Day Two

Select one of the following and write for 7 to 10 minutes.

v     Make a list of everything you know about your favorite topic. Then create a list of things you want to know about that topic.   Try not to select a broad topic.  Example:  books, music.  Select a more focused part of the broader topic. Science Fiction books, pop music.

v     Go outside and select a place to write:  First list all the details of the setting.  Really look at the area.  Then outline an activity that may or may not take place in this setting.

v     Write about what is on your mind.

Found Poem

Make a list of 15 to 20 phrases from the book you brought.

Found poems are created by using lines from other text combined with your own words to create a non rhyming poem.

Create a list of lines (15 to 20) from the book you brought, from books you have read, song titles, textbooks etc.

Assignment:

Create a found poem of seven or more lines.  At least three of the lines should be from your “golden lines” list.  The other four lines can be your own words.
