Day One: Morning
Writing Prompts:
Select one of the following and write for 7 to 10 minutes:
Ø Use the cartoon to get a written response from the group. Write 7 to 10 minutes about your reaction to this cartoon. Use cartoons from Sunday’s paper.
Ø Write about what is on your mind.
Create a “Things to Remember” document for copying and pasting information such as URLs.
Discuss responding on the workshop blog site. Use the comment feature to post to the workshop blog.
Discussion: Using images as writing prompts.

Collect art sites or images to use as writing prompts.
Uses: Help students look for patterns and related objects, concepts, ideas. Students find their voice in writing using images.

Discuss your impressions in a reflective writing about the piece you read. Share. Post to the blog as a comment.
Go to lunch with the following assignment
Afternoon:
Groups:
Stacey, Addie—Find an artistic shot. Take at least two of it.
Kila, Roxanne—Take at least two pictures of a plant or animal.
Michele, Sheryl—Look at possible photo opts for using as a class assignment.
Think about your content area. How could you use these images to prompt students to write a better science report, a more detailed art critique, a more detailed story. Can a photo help with a newspaper article. Would there be some image possibilities for the history of an area. (Your town).
Brainstorm for how/what/where to take your images.
Each person should take at least 5 digital images. At least one of those should be something you could use in your Spring I am poem. Discuss the Spring I am poem components.
Spend from now until 2:00 for lunch and taking pictures. If you get finished early return to the lab.
Review the images.
Use one or more of your images in a written piece. Poetry, story, comic strip etc.
Do prewrite using the Spring I am poem prompts. Ask participants to finish poem as an assignment.
