Flickr.com  uses:

Ø     Upload and share photos

Ø     Find photos for writing prompts

Ø     Search for similar topic pictures for projects—some are copyrighted, some are not. 

Ø     Finding details–Quote Bud Hunt on 365 day photos.  Bud Hunt said being a participant in 365 photos group on Flickr made him much more aware of what he was seeing and the details of a scene.

Ø     Edit photos

Ø     Becoming part of world wide community.

There are an number of NWP members who do this on a monthly bases.  It helps practice your writing skills.  Since this is usually done on a host blog there are teachers from across the country stay in contact and network to practice writing skills.
