How to Wordle:
Wordle is a program that creates a word cloud.
Explore:
Open an Internet connection.
Type in the following URL/address www.wordle.net
Select Create a word cloud.
Select randomize and see what happens.
Now create a Wordle and get it to your computer or jump drive.
Look for a passage on the Internet—poem, political speech, quote etc.
Or
Type words you want to see in a Wordle into a Word document. If you want some of the terms bigger type them more times. The more times a word is used in a piece the bigger the terms.
Create your own Wordle.
Open it in a separate window. Next tell it to print. ***If you check out the printer options it will sometimes allow you to “print” it as a pdf on your computer. Then you can bring it up in say a scanning software program and save it as a picture (jpg). At this point you can insert it into Word or PowerPoint.
Sometimes I simply print it, then scan it to save as a jpg.
Uses:
Find important words in any piece of writing. A student who uses because 100 times in an essay could see a visual of his/her word usage by copying and pasting their piece into Wordle. If that student were to Wordle his piece he would see which words are used too often.
Find key words in any piece.
Use as a cover picture.
